Accounting Manager
Cleveland, OH
$145,000 – $155,000 The Accounting Manager will oversee all operational accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and treasury functions. This role will have up to five direct reports and is responsible for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, compliance with accounting standards, and effective management of the accounting team. Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
- Supervise and develop accounting staff, including AP, AR, and accounting specialists. Conduct training, assess competencies, compile annual performance reviews, and set goals.
- Oversee the firm accounts payable process, including review and audit of expense reports.
- Oversee the firm accounts receivable process, ensuring accurate and timely postings of all revenue.
- Oversee preparation of monthly cash flow forecast.
- Oversee firm's general ledger and fixed assets. Ensure all accounts are reconciled accurately according to the reconciliation schedule.
- Manage treasury functions, including cash/cash equivalents, credit cards, trust accounting/reconciliation, wire transfers, and user setup. Serve as the firm's liaison with banks.
- Manage general ledger setup, including structure, account additions, and consolidations.
- Study and recommend improved processes and internal controls for accounting function.
- Assist the Director of Finance and CFO with special projects as needed.
Accounting Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation required
- 10+ years of progressive experience, preferably at a legal or services firm, including 5+ years of managerial experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to delegate, instruct, and evaluate staff, including goal setting, performance review requirements, and skill assessments.
- Excellent organizational, stress, and time management skills; demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate to management in a clear, concise manner to facilitate information sharing and decision-making.
- Excellent customer service skills in managing and responding to firm needs, soliciting feedback to improve service, and meeting commitments.
