Job Summary
The Bone Marrow Transplant RN plays a crucial role in providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation. This position involves closely monitoring patient progress, administering medications, and collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective treatment outcomes. The RN will act as an advocate for patients, guiding them through the complexities of treatment and supporting both their physical and emotional needs.
Responsibilities
- Conducting thorough assessments of patients’ health status and treatment responses.
- Administering chemotherapy and other medications as prescribed.
- Monitoring vital signs and reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
- Providing education and counseling to patients and their families regarding the transplant process and aftercare.
- Coordinating care with physicians, pharmacists, and other specialists.
- Documenting patient care activities accurately in electronic health records.
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and infection control measures.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure in the state of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience in oncology, hematology, or transplant nursing is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
