The Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities by aiding them in everyday living tasks, overseeing health needs, and providing behavioral assistance to foster independence. This position entails keeping accurate records of services provided, advocating for the rights of clients, and offering transportation for community activities. Ideal candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal abilities, showing compassion and patience to effectively connect with individuals with special needs. A valid driver’s license is essential, along with the capacity to drive a large van or bus. Experience in cooking and housekeeping is also advantageous.
