Job Summary
The Demand Planner is responsible for overseeing demand planning and forecasting efforts for intricate product lines, programs, or specific business segments. This role plays a key part in enhancing operational performance, optimizing inventory, and meeting customer delivery targets. The Demand Planner will evaluate market dynamics, customer needs, and operational metrics to generate precise forecasts and formulate effective planning strategies. Close collaboration with various departments, including supply chain, production, customer service, and leadership, is essential to refine planning processes, mitigate risks, and drive strategic business goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation of precise long-term and short-term demand forecasts aligned with organizational objectives.
- Evaluate market trends, consumer needs, historical data, and operational insights to refine demand forecasts.
- Enhance forecast accuracy, optimize inventory levels, and boost customer fulfillment efficiency.
- Facilitate demand planning activities across different business functions and product ranges.
- Spot, assess, and manage demand, inventory, and supply risks proactively.
- Conduct forecast variance analysis and supply actionable insights for operational decisions.
- Develop and sustain planning metrics, reporting, and operational analysis for management teams.
- Assist in strategic planning, capacity planning, and broader operational initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between demand plans and business objectives.
- Continuously enhance forecasting methods, planning processes, tools, and overall efficacy.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems and forecasting technologies for demand planning and inventory management.
- Offer technical mentorship and support to junior planners or planning teams.
- Operate independently and take on the role of lead planner or subject matter expert as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- 4-6 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or related domains.
- Advanced expertise in demand forecasting and planning methodologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of inventory management and operational planning processes.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and forecasting tools is essential.
- Strong skills in data analysis, modeling, KPI performance reporting, and variance analysis.
- Capability to recognize planning risks and devise effective mitigation strategies.
- Proven ability to coordinate efficiently across multiple departments and teams.
- Experience in supporting strategic and capacity planning efforts.
- Capacity to provide technical direction and mentoring to junior planners.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and ERP/forecasting systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Adept at working autonomously with minimal oversight, managing complex planning activities competently.
