Equipment Maintenance Technician Level 4
Location: Solon, OH
Compensation: $30 – $35.50
The Equipment Maintenance Technician Level 4 is tasked with troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and enhancing industrial manufacturing machinery. This role encompasses various maintenance areas, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, with the expectation that the technician can resolve most equipment challenges independently. This position also involves contributions to preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, fabrication, machining, and ongoing improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities for Equipment Maintenance Technician:
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues within mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Interpret equipment blueprints, assembly drawings, as well as electrical and electronic schematics.
- Employ diagnostic tools such as multimeters, hydraulic test gauges, precision levels, and other analytical instruments to identify equipment problems.
- Perform welding, soldering, machining, fabrication, and basic plumbing tasks when necessary.
- Fabricate or adapt components to facilitate equipment repairs and plant operations.
- Spot and suggest modifications and enhancements to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Support predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and Reliability Excellence efforts.
- Facilitate shift start-up meetings and align maintenance activities with production and other departments.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, confined space regulations, fall protection, hot work, compressed gases, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as 5S, Standard Work, and CEDAC.
- Operate Powered Industrial Equipment after obtaining necessary certification.
Qualifications for Equipment Maintenance Technician:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 4 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience; a technical degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
- Extensive troubleshooting expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and electrical/electronic schematics.
- Experience in preventive maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.
- Working knowledge of welding, soldering, fabrication, machining, and basic plumbing.
- Familiarity with using multimeters and other diagnostic/test equipment for maintenance.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Root Cause Analysis is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for 8–12 hours.
- Ability to attain respirator certification and travel to other facilities or vendors as required.
