Sensory Panelist
Cincinnati, OH
Part-Time (T, W, TH)
9:00 AM – 3:30 PM (15-18 Hours per week)
Hunter International is looking for a Sensory Panelist to become a part of their team in the Cincinnati region. This role will involve joining a global consumer goods company, where the Panelist will act as a trained evaluator, offering unbiased insights on a variety of products or items.
Responsibilities of the Panelist
- A sensory panelist serves as a trained evaluator, utilizing any of the five senses to deliver objective evaluations on the products or items in question.
- Feedback provided by the sensory panelist can be either quantitative (using a specified numeric scale) or qualitative (descriptive of the sensory experience), typically recorded on a paper ballot or entered into a computerized system. Discussions among panelists may also occur to reach a consensus.
- Sensory personnel or project team members may occasionally request additional insights from panelists through debriefing sessions after product evaluations.
- Trained sensory panelists may be consulted by sensory staff for the development of new methods, including the identification of new characteristics, benchmarks, or enhancements to testing or evaluation techniques.
- Panelists are expected to arrive punctually and fulfill the established schedule while adhering to company guidelines regarding safety, quality, and conduct.
- Consistent adherence to evaluation protocols is a must.
- It is essential to maintain confidentiality regarding the information, data, products, and methodologies utilized in the sensory panel.
- Panelists are prohibited from participating in consumer research related to household care products.
- When time permits, panelists may be asked to assist with minor project tasks or support the panel assistant, including but not limited to labeling, sample preparation, and cleanup.
- From time to time, panelists may be consulted for their perspectives on samples or concepts.
- Panelists are required to follow company policies regarding attendance, professional behavior, and any other unlisted expectations.
Qualifications for Panelist
A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Sensory panelists will receive training on their responsibilities from sensory staff regarding new attributes or from panel leaders or supervisors concerning established attributes. The supervisor will determine when a panelist is qualified as a trained evaluator for specific sensory attributes or methods.
- To maintain consistency and precision, panelists will undergo regular recalibration and validation or revalidation with their panel leader or supervisor.
- Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and analytical abilities are essential for this position.
- Candidates must be comfortable with part-time work arrangements.
