Job Summary
The Home Health Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a vital role in supporting patients to improve their daily living skills and functional independence in a home health setting. This position requires collaboration with occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care tailored to individual patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists in the implementation of therapeutic programs designed to enhance patient function and quality of life.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting interventions as necessary under the guidance of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques and exercises to promote recovery and independence.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care and share observations and insights regarding patient progress.
- Adhere to established safety standards and infection control procedures during patient care.
Qualifications
- Active certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Relevant experience in home health care or a similar environment is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload of patients.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in occupational therapy.
