Job Summary
The Hospice Director of Nursing (DON) plays a critical role in overseeing nursing operations within hospice care. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care while adhering to regulatory standards and organizational policies. The DON will lead nursing staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide compassionate and comprehensive end-of-life care to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the nursing department, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Oversee patient care management to maintain high standards of service delivery.
- Provide guidance, support, and education to nursing staff and care teams.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and facilitate ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care and improve service efficiency.
- Ensure proper staffing and scheduling to meet patient needs effectively.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to nursing care.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience in hospice or palliative care.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in a managerial role.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of regulatory guidelines and best practices in hospice care.
