Human Resources Manager – Manufacturing
Austintown, OH
Pay: $115,000-$125,000 The HR Manager will serve as the strategic human resources leader for a manufacturing facility, overseeing plant-level HR operations while driving company-wide people initiatives. This role balances hands-on leadership with strategic execution, supporting a diverse hourly and salaried workforce and ensuring compliance, engagement, and talent growth across the organization. The HR Manager will directly manage two plant-based HR professionals who handle daily employee relations, onboarding, and administrative activities, while maintaining ownership of higher-level initiatives, workforce planning, and talent strategy
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop two plant-level HR team members, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight
  • Act as the primary HR partner to plant leadership, advising on workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness
  • Support a complex workforce that includes both hourly manufacturing employees and salaried professionals
  • Spearhead recruiting efforts for salaried roles, including professional, technical, and leadership positions
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand talent needs, define job requirements, and improve hiring processes
  • Drive employer branding and recruitment strategies aligned with business growth
  • Lead the rollout and ongoing management of new HR initiatives, including a company wellness program and bonus/incentive programs
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend enhancements to improve engagement and retention
  • Oversee employee benefits administration and act as a key resource during open enrollment
  • Partner with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure competitive and compliant benefits offerings
  • Support compensation programs and ensure alignment with company policies and market practices
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of labor laws, employee relations best practices, and HR compliance standards
  • Oversee workers’ compensation processes, including claims management, return-to-work programs, and regulatory reporting

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Proven experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, regulatory compliance, and workers’ compensation
  • Experience leading or influencing recruiting strategies for salaried roles
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives while supporting day-to-day HR operations through direct reports???????
