Interventional Radiology Tech
Charleston, WV
Shift: Day Shift 4×10’s (7:00am – 5:30pm)

Job Summary
The Interventional Radiology Tech provides essential support to physicians during minimally invasive, image-assisted procedures aimed at diagnosing and treating various medical conditions in the realm of Interventional Radiology. This role is pivotal in ensuring patient care throughout the entire procedure process, maintaining high standards of safety, precision, and imaging quality in dynamic settings such as the Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology suite.

Responsibilities

  • Support physicians throughout interventional processes such as angiograms, angioplasty, stent placements, biopsies, drain insertions, and vascular treatments.
  • Prepare and uphold a sterile environment, including instruments, supplies, and imaging equipment.
  • Participate in scrubbing, circulating, and aiding in the procedural setup and takedown.
  • Position patients and imaging equipment (C-arm) to achieve optimal imaging views.
  • Continuously monitor patient conditions, including vital signs, ECG, oxygen levels, and hemodynamic stability.
  • Conduct patient preparations, which encompass history evaluations, lab checks, allergy assessments, medication reviews, and consent confirmations.
  • Initiate and oversee IV access and provide supplemental oxygen as instructed.
  • Assist with monitoring sedation and administering medications under the physician’s direction.
  • Facilitate the management of vascular access sites and post-procedure hemostasis.
  • Execute radiographic imaging and fluoroscopy if ARRT certified.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of procedures, patient information, and imaging results.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the healthcare team to promote a safe and efficient procedural workflow.
  • Educate patients on procedural processes and post-procedure care.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, radiation safety measures, and hospital regulations.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Active state Radiographer license.
  • ARRT certification is mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required (AHA).
  • ACLS certification is preferred or to be obtained shortly after hire.
  • Preference for advanced ARRT certifications in Cardiovascular (CV), Cardiac Interventional (CI), or Vascular Interventional (VI).
  • Proficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, sterile practices, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Capable of thriving in a high-energy procedural environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and collaboration skills.
  • RCIS certification is preferred for roles focused on the Cath Lab.
