Maintenance Technician
Location: Madison, OH
Salary: $25-35/HR
Shift: 1st Shift
The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in the maintenance, repair, and fine-tuning of industrial machinery to ensure the smooth operation of production activities. This position involves collaboration with management to address any mechanical issues that arise and to support the development of strategic maintenance plans.
Responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician:
- Carry out preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and execute scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Perform electrical work, including installations and maintenance (both single-phase and three-phase, up to 480V).
- Undertake plumbing tasks using carbon steel and carbonized piping materials.
- Install, maintain, and repair a range of machinery and equipment such as high-speed mixers, homogenizers, and crimping devices.
- Handle the maintenance and repair of boilers (heating and processing) as well as gas heaters.
- Oversee the inventory of maintenance supplies, which includes piping, hardware, pumps, and other relevant components.
- Service and calibrate both automated and manual valve systems.
- Adhere strictly to lockout/tagout safety protocols.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and schematics effectively.
Qualifications for the Maintenance Technician:
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience in industrial maintenance.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and HVAC (HVAC knowledge is an asset).
- Familiarity with industrial plumbing practices.
- Experience with boiler systems and HVAC mechanisms.
- Proficiency in industrial instrumentation programming and maintenance.
- Welding skills are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience in rigging and millwright work.
- Basic carpentry abilities.
- Computer literacy for automation systems and data input.
- Capacity to work on high-speed dispersion systems and perform pump rebuilds (training available, but prior experience is advantageous).
- Confined space certification is a plus.
- Willingness to work at elevated heights.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver loads weighing 50–75 lbs.
- Coordination and dexterity for handling small tools and components.
- Good balance necessary for tasks at heights or near moving machinery.
- Capability to climb up and down ladders and platforms safely.
- Proficiency in overhead work as well as tasks at waist and ground level.
- Flexibility to crouch, kneel, bend, or squat when working on equipment.
- Adequate stamina to stand and move around for the majority of the work shift.
- Ability to operate, test, and run equipment to guarantee successful maintenance operations.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, noisy settings, and dusty or odorous areas.
- Capable of using senses such as hearing, vision, touch, and smell to assess machinery and equipment performance.
