Overview of the Mechanical Engineer Position:
In the role of Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with an array of esteemed professionals while playing a vital role in the design, development, and maintenance of 40 million square feet of properties across three continents. This position provides a chance to contribute to the company’s global operations and advance your career within the Buildings and Design leadership team.
Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer:
- Assess prospective facility acquisitions to identify operational and management infrastructure challenges.
- Supervise design and planning of infrastructure elements.
- Support issue resolution during construction, ensuring compliance with regulations, designs, and standards.
- Provide engineering consultation and troubleshooting for existing buildings and systems, including engineering support for building and system dispositions.
- Maintain and update the Company’s Mechanical Standards along with federal, state, and local codes and regulations as the subject matter expert.
- Stay informed about advancements in mechanical engineering, as well as applicable compliance codes, environmental concerns, and other relevant issues impacting mechanical systems.
- Lead the development, bidding, and supervision of facility repair projects to bolster the Company’s operations.
- Conduct engineering evaluations and assessments.
- Compile reports and deliver presentations to Facilities Management and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; candidates without a PE may qualify for alternative roles.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design or operations in industrial, commercial, or institutional environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Strong collaboration capabilities with peers, cross-departmental teams, and executive leadership to effectively address job requests.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in health care mechanical design or operations, or project management experience that involves coordinating maintenance, renovation, and construction initiatives.
- Familiarity with medical gas requirements, ASHRAE standards in hospital settings, and health care fire and life safety codes and regulations.
