As a Medical Assistant II, you will serve as the initial contact for patients, delivering both clinical and administrative assistance while collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to guarantee an excellent patient experience. Your contributions will be essential in providing top-notch care within a busy outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant:
- Prepare examination rooms and gather vital signs from patients.
- Evaluate symptoms, check medical histories, and update Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Support healthcare providers during assessments and minor medical procedures.
- Administer injections and conduct diagnostic tests as allowed by certification.
- Gather blood samples and other lab specimens.
- Perform venipuncture and phlebotomy tasks.
- Sanitize and prepare medical instruments and examination areas.
- Ensure precise patient documentation and maintain medical records.
- Coordinate appointments and assist with administrative functions.
- Provide compassionate and high-quality care in a dynamic outpatient environment.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Essential Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in back-office settings with direct patient care.
- Possession of a valid CMA or RMA certification (or appropriate state license).
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting is advantageous.
- Preferred hands-on experience with phlebotomy and specimen collection.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A team player who is dedicated to providing outstanding patient care.
- Willingness to undergo necessary Tuberculosis (TB) screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
- Knowledge of HEDIS measures.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from recognized organizations such as AAMA, NHA, ARMA, NAHP, or AMT.
- ARRT Radiologic Technologist (RT) license is a beneficial addition.
