Job description

Job Summary

The Medical Technologist (MT) is responsible for performing clinical laboratory tests in an acute care setting on a PRN (as needed) basis. This role is crucial for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients through laboratory analyses. The MT will ensure that tests are conducted in compliance with established protocols and standards, delivering quality laboratory services to healthcare teams and patients alike.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and verify laboratory tests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance as required.
  • Adhere to safety and quality control measures in all laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare, label, and preserve specimens for testing.
  • Analyze results and communicate findings to healthcare providers.
  • Assist in training and mentoring less experienced staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) from a recognized board.
  • Recent experience in an acute care laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing protocols and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with healthcare teams.
