Job Summary
The Orthopedic Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare system, specializing in the application and removal of casts, splints, and orthopedic devices. This position requires a solid understanding of orthopedic conditions and effective patient care practices to support both patients and medical teams in delivering quality health services.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the application and removal of various orthopedic devices including casts and splints.
- Support orthopedic surgeons in the treatment of patients by preparing them for procedures.
- Educate patients on orthopedic care, including the proper care of casts and splints.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient treatments and maintain equipment.
- Manage inventory and assist with the preparation of surgical instruments.
- Maintain a sterile environment during treatments and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in orthopedic technology preferred.
- Experience in a clinical setting, particularly in orthopedics, is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
