Job Summary
The Program Manager will be responsible for the operational management of aerospace manufacturing projects, ensuring that customer requirements are met in terms of quality, delivery, cost, and schedule. This role necessitates coordination across manufacturing, supply chain, planning, engineering, quality, and customer service teams to maintain efficient production processes and address issues that could impact project performance.
Acting as a key liaison for operational priorities, the Program Manager will partner closely with both internal teams and clients to identify potential risks, tackle constraints, formulate recovery strategies, and uphold commitments. The ideal candidate should thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional manufacturing environment and be able to influence team outcomes without direct authority.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate operations for assigned aerospace programs, engaging with various functions.
- Act as a vital contact between clients and internal teams concerning priorities, schedules, and recovery strategies.
- Facilitate program execution meetings to assess delivery, material readiness, and risks.
- Identify and resolve issues hindering manufacturing efficiency and meeting critical client standards.
- Ensure timely prioritization and procurement of essential materials and services to support production needs.
- Collaborate with supply chain personnel to manage material shortages and avoid production delays.
- Monitor manufacturing and order status throughout all stages from receipt to shipment.
- Formulate recovery plans for overdue orders and adapting schedules as necessary.
- Report on operational risks and plan mitigations to senior management and customer stakeholders.
- Communicate any changes in schedules and requirements to both internal staff and external customers.
- Analyze operational performance metrics and recommend remedial action when needed.
- Engage in contract reviews and participate in broader business planning efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- 2-5 years of experience in program management, operations, or a related manufacturing role.
- Experience with coordinating teams to achieve delivery, quality, and cost objectives.
- Proficiency in managing production schedules and material availability.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems.
- Understanding of financial forecasting and operational performance metrics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related technical field.
- Prior experience in a regulated manufacturing setting.
- Track record in managing production recovery in complex environments.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards and quality regulations.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma.
- Experience with systems like SAP or MFGPRO.
- Knowledge of demand forecasting and inventory management practices.
