$70,000-85,000 Project Designer III Overview
The Project Designer III supports residential architecture projects by developing design and construction documents from schematic design through completion. This role works closely with Project Managers and Senior Project Managers to ensure high-quality, code-compliant, and well-coordinated deliverables. The Project Designer III collaborates with clients, consultants, and internal team members while contributing to project meetings, presentations, and construction administration efforts. Project Designer III Key Responsibilities
- Organize, set up, and develop architectural drawings from schematic design through full construction document sets under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager.
- Support residential projects with a strong focus on building systems, construction assemblies, and material selection.
- Perform thorough code reviews at the beginning of each project, ensuring compliance with building codes, accessibility standards, green criteria, and CSI requirements.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal team members.
- Attend project meetings, document meeting outcomes, and assist with construction administration activities.
- Assist with the preparation of graphic and presentation materials.
- Support and provide guidance to Interns when assigned, based on project needs and staffing availability.
- Adhere to established firm standards, including drafting, graphic standards, file organization, and naming conventions.
Project Designer III Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited program meeting NCARB licensing criteria.
- 6+ years of experience in residential, multifamily, commercial, or senior living architecture, with a focus on residential project support.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, construction assemblies, architectural materials, and products.
- Proven experience with construction administration and consultant coordination.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Self-motivated problem solver with strong listening and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Photoshop.
