Project Manager – Chemical Engineering
Akron, OH – Hybrid
$100k – $150k

The Project Manager – Chemical Engineering plays a pivotal role in steering the planning, organization, and execution of engineering initiatives in the chemical or industrial manufacturing arena. This position entails overseeing technical, financial, and commercial aspects of projects, ensuring their timely and budget-friendly completion while aligning with client expectations.

Responsibilities of the Project Manager – Chemical Engineering:

  • Lead and oversee engineering projects of varying disciplines from inception to completion.
  • Define and uphold project parameters, including scope, timeline, budget, and deliverables in line with contractual obligations.
  • Act as the primary liaison for all client communications related to the project.
  • Coordinate efforts among internal engineering teams and subcontractors to meet project deadlines.
  • Create and oversee project execution strategies utilizing methodologies like Stage-Gate, EPC, or EPCM.
  • Identify potential risks associated with projects and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them.
  • Engage in project review sessions and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Project Management Organization (PMO).
  • Assist in drafting proposals, cost estimates, and conducting feasibility analyses.
  • Ensure all project activities adhere to established safety and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design personnel.
  • Prepare and present project updates and technical insights to clients and management teams.
  • Monitor on-site activities, including installations, startups, and troubleshooting when necessary.

Requirements for the Project Manager – Chemical Engineering:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline, depending on experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing projects within the industrial chemical domain.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering project delivery approaches (FEL/Stage-Gate, EPC, EPCM).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle project budgets, timelines, and lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership capabilities.
  • Familiarity with MS Project, Excel, and other project management and design software.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically for client engagements, field work, or site evaluations as required.
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States and be able to pass background checks and drug screenings.
