Quality Inspector Overview:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing and validating a variety of inspection tasks, including visual, dimensional, electrical, mechanical, environmental, and chemical assessments. This role involves source inspections, first article inspections, receiving, in-process checks, and final tests, utilizing both company and client-provided specifications, tools, and procedures. Attention to detail is crucial, and the position may require overtime and travel as needed.
Quality Inspector Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and endorse inspection and testing documentation
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics and procedures
- Collaborate effectively with customer and government inspection teams
- Maintain inspection documentation in line with company standards
- Aid in the development and management of corrective and preventive actions
- Support and adhere to the Quality Management System principles
- Perform additional tasks as assigned or directed
Qualifications:
- Fluent in reading and writing English
- Skilled in basic measurement techniques (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
- Understanding of basic math and some statistical process control data collection
- Must have normal color vision and not suffer from non-correctable visual impairments
- Knowledge of AS9102 standards is advantageous
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Quality Inspector (CQI) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is preferred
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in inspection roles
- Familiarity with the AS9100B Quality System Standard
- Competent in using measuring devices
- Ability to understand blueprints and technical specifications
- Knowledge of safety protocols including Lock-out/Tag-out
- Awareness of general safety practices and HAZ-MAT regulations
- Knowledge of Foreign Object Awareness protocols
- Capable of performing manual tasks that include walking, sitting, standing, typing, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 20 pounds as necessary.
