Job Summary
The RN Emergency Department (ED) plays a critical role in providing immediate and comprehensive care to patients experiencing medical emergencies. The registered nurse in this position will be responsible for assessing patients’ conditions, delivering essential nursing interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough assessments of patients upon arrival in the emergency department.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Effectively manage critical situations, employing advanced life-support techniques when necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with medical protocols.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans for patients.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health conditions and treatment plans.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development and team performance.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in emergency nursing or a related field is highly desirable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to act decisively under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
