Safety Coordinator
$37.80/HR

The Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a robust safety culture within the plant and is responsible for environmental compliance initiatives. This position is focused on adhering to corporate and regulatory safety standards while striving for continuous improvement. Duties include providing safety training, managing essential safety programs, and collaborating with operational teams to mitigate risks and enhance overall workplace performance.
Key Responsibilities of the Safety Coordinator:
- Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental regulations.
- Facilitate safety training for new hires as well as ongoing sessions for existing staff.
- Oversee the Lock Tag Try (LTT), conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), and manage safety documentation.
- Recognize, document, and escalate any equipment failures, near-misses, or unsafe conditions.
- Assist with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Autonomous Maintenance (AM), and Focused Improvement efforts.
- Monitor waste management processes and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Engage in safety committees, conduct inspections, and investigate incidents to implement corrective measures.
- Maintain effective communication with various departments to ensure prompt compliance and resolution of safety issues.
- Exhibit adaptability to changing operational demands while upholding rigorous safety standards.
Qualifications for the Safety Coordinator:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; additional vocational or safety-focused education is advantageous.
- At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial safety role is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards, LOTO procedures, and safety auditing techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, attention to detail, and a proven track record in employee training and leading safety initiatives.
