Job Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst will deliver comprehensive financial and analytical support across the hospital’s operational framework. This position is critical in aiding major management strategies through various analyses including capital and operational budgeting, labor productivity, service line performance, margin evaluations, and long-term strategic planning. The ideal candidate is expected to possess exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the capability to convert intricate financial and operational information into strategic, actionable insights for senior management. A successful candidate will be adept at working autonomously, prioritizing multiple tasks, and generating precise, high-caliber outputs with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities
- Conduct financial analyses including pro formas, ROI evaluations, long-term financial projections, capital funding applications, and service line studies.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process, monthly reconciliation of budgets, and analysis of budget performance against actual figures.
- Examine financial and operational metrics to detect trends, discrepancies, and essential business influences.
- Perform month-end financial assessments and reconciliations.
- Offer financial support and guidance to hospital executives and staff.
- Convert complex financial datasets into insightful reports and suggestions for management.
- Facilitate productivity assessments and provide decision-making support.
- Oversee financial projects and adhere to deadlines with limited supervision.
- Collaborate with stakeholders within the hospital and university, acting as a financial representative.
- Employ Power Query, Power BI, and advanced Excel capabilities to analyze and showcase financial information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related domain; 10–15 years of relevant experience may be acceptable as a substitute. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial analysis, accounting, financial management, or decision-support in an acute-care hospital setting is essential.
- Hospital experience is mandatory; broader healthcare experience is not sufficient.
- Proficiency in Power Query and robust experience with Power BI are top technical priorities.
- Advanced skills in Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, complex formulas, and financial modeling are required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles as they relate to hospital finance is essential.
- Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, productivity examination, and reporting in relation to hospital operations is required.
- Familiarity with DataRails and Lawson Version 10 is advantageous but not essential.
- CPA certification is preferred, though not mandatory.
- Demonstrated analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with a strong capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
