Process Engineer

Position Overview:
We are on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Process Engineer who can spearhead process optimization, enhance automation, and provide technical assistance in a state-of-the-art automated coatings manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in formulated chemical processes, PLC/controls, and implementing continuous improvement strategies in high-volume automated settings.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee process engineering for batch and continuous automated coatings manufacturing.
- Collaborate with automation and controls teams to improve PLC, SCADA, and DCS frameworks (including Allen-Bradley and Siemens).
- Utilize process data analysis to boost overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), streamline cycle times, optimize energy consumption, and maintain product standards.
- Develop and revise P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Partner with maintenance and reliability teams to enhance equipment uptime and increase throughput.
- Assist R&D, Production, and Product Management in launching new products.
- Conduct root cause analyses for process or quality challenges and enact corrective measures.
- Ensure adherence to EHS regulations, OSHA standards, EPA guidelines, and ISO/TS requirements.
- Participate in capital projects from initial concept to commissioning, including equipment and automation integration.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and production staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- A minimum of 10 years experience in process engineering within coatings, chemical, or similar manufacturing sectors.
- Expertise in automation and PLC controls (Rockwell, Siemens).
- Familiarity with batch control systems (ISA-88) and industrial control software.
- Solid understanding of pumps, mixers, tank systems, thermal systems, and environmental controls.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma, or similar analytical tools.
- Demonstrated ability in leading continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
- Strong communicator with proven skills in cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficiency in improving material flow and addressing production bottlenecks.
- Capability to train operators and staff on new systems and procedures.
- Adept at thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in paint, coatings, resin, or adhesive manufacturing.
- Knowledge of automated material handling, recipe management, and batch automation.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts, predictive maintenance, remote monitoring, or intelligent systems.
