Senior QA Analyst
Location: 100% Remote
Compensation: $62/HR
Contract Duration: 6-month W2 Contract
The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the development and upkeep of production-ready APIs for third-party vendors, streamlining acquisition processes. This position involves crafting and implementing thorough functional and risk-oriented testing strategies, with a particular focus on API and headless application testing. The ideal individual will possess practical experience using API testing tools like REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Postman/Newman, and will be adept at investigating system issues autonomously using Splunk. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, vendor representatives, and business analysts within an Agile/Scrum framework.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Quality Assurance Analyst:
- Engage in Scrum ceremonies and other Agile rituals.
- Develop and sustain detailed test plans along with risk-based testing strategies for assigned story cards.
- Design and perform both positive and negative test scenarios to assess application functionality and system performance.
- Conduct functional and risk-based testing for APIs and headless applications.
- Create, execute, and manage API tests utilizing tools such as REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Postman/Newman.
- Document and communicate defects clearly, providing complete reproduction steps.
- Work together with development and product teams to evaluate the impact of defects and establish priorities accordingly.
- Utilize Splunk to autonomously investigate system issues, resolve defects, and determine potential root causes.
- Manage testing activities, defects, and Agile tasks using Azure DevOps (AzDO).
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of QA processes, testing methods, and Agile best practices.
- When applicable, design and execute automated testing.
Qualifications for Senior Quality Assurance Analyst:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Information Technology, or a related discipline, with at least 4 years of pertinent experience in analyzing, testing, and implementing business system changes or conducting user acceptance testing.
- OR completion of a technical training program with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the same domains.
- OR a minimum of 6 years of applicable experience in analyzing, testing, and implementing business system changes or performing user acceptance testing.
- Extensive experience in functional and risk-based testing, including the formulation and maintenance of risk-based testing strategies.
- Proven experience in creating and executing both positive and negative test plans.
- Hands-on experience with API testing, including tools like REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Postman/Newman.
- Demonstrated experience in testing headless applications.
- Strong background with Splunk and the capability to independently diagnose system concerns and defects.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps (AzDO) and principles of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and executing test automation.
- Prior experience in the insurance industry.
- Experience in performing UI testing.
- Knowledge of APIs and their importance in facilitating communication and data exchange across software applications.
