Job Summary
The SPD Assistant plays a vital role within the organization, focusing on supporting the operational efficiency of the sterile processing department. This individual is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cleaning, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment to ensure that it meets all safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Support the organization and inventory management of sterile supplies.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
- Prepare and package surgical instruments for sterilization.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on sterilization equipment.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization processes and guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
