Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in healthcare settings, ensuring that all surgical and medical instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use. This position is vital for maintaining the highest standards of safety and infection control within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Effectively decontaminate instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and trays for sterilization.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Document sterilization processes and monitor sterilizer cycles.
- Participate in quality assurance and maintain appropriate inventory levels of sterile supplies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in sterile processing is a plus.
- Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
