Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a crucial role in evaluating, treating, and managing patients who have respiratory disorders. This professional is responsible for providing care to patients of all ages, ensuring their respiratory health and improving their quality of life through various therapeutic modalities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ respiratory conditions and determine appropriate treatment strategies.
- Administer prescribed respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medication delivery, and mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses to various respiratory therapies and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory health and management strategies, including home care practices.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain equipment in accordance with established guidelines.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in accordance with state regulations.
- Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Pediatric, adult, and geriatric care experience preferred.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
