Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist OR is a vital member of the operating room team, responsible for facilitating successful surgical procedures by ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use. This role requires interaction with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to assess and anticipate patient needs during operations, thus playing a critical part in patient safety and care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary surgical instruments are sterile and organized.
- Assist in the setup of surgical equipment and materials before procedures start.
- Collaborate with surgeons and healthcare team members to provide support during surgeries.
- Monitor and maintain adherence to fire safety standards and sterilization protocols.
- Evaluate and address patient needs alongside other care providers.
- Stay updated on protocols and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist program, such as Surgical Tech II or equivalent certification.
- Strong understanding of operating room procedures and sterile techniques.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate clearly.
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety and high-quality care standards.
- Relevant experience in an operating room setting is preferred but not mandatory.
