Job Summary
The Vascular Surgery Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) is a skilled nursing professional who plays a critical role in the post-operative care of patients recovering from vascular procedures. This position requires a strong foundation in clinical care and the ability to manage patients with complex vascular issues while providing exceptional support and monitoring in a step-down unit setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the recovery phase following vascular surgeries.
- Monitor vital signs and implement appropriate interventions for changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Document patient progress and respond to any concerns or complications effectively.
- Assist with rehabilitative therapies and mobility exercises as required.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant state.
- Previous experience in a vascular surgery or step-down nursing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to make critical decisions and provide urgent care in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are typically required.
