Job Summary
The Surgery RN (Registered Nurse) is an essential healthcare professional responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role demands strong clinical skills, a comprehensive understanding of surgical practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments of patients to ensure readiness for surgery.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans tailored to surgical patients.
- Monitor patients closely during and after surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Educate patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery processes, and post-operative care.
- Administer medications and manage IV lines as per operational protocols.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff to maintain a sterile environment and assist during surgeries.
- Document patient care accurately in electronic health records as mandated.
- Respond to emergencies and complications during the surgical process, implementing appropriate interventions.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is typically preferred.
- Previous experience in a surgical or operating room setting is highly beneficial.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse healthcare teams.
