Job Summary
The Seasonal Surgical Technologist – OR Scrub Tech (Temp) plays a crucial role in the operating room, providing essential support during surgical procedures. This temporary position is focused on ensuring that the surgical environment is optimized for patient safety and surgical efficiency. The Surgical Technologist will collaborate closely with the surgical team to facilitate successful operations and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining sterile instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Support surgeons and nursing staff during surgeries by passing instruments and providing necessary items.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment throughout the operation.
- Assist in the positioning of patients and securing necessary preoperative documentation.
- Participate in the count of sponges, instruments, and needles before and after operations to ensure nothing is left behind.
- Help in cleaning and restocking surgical supplies and instruments post-procedure.
- Stay updated on surgical techniques and advancements to ensure best practices are followed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a surgical technology program preferred.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is highly recommended.
- Experience in a surgical setting is considered a significant advantage.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, techniques, and sterile procedures.
- Ability to function well in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with medical teams.
