Job Summary
The primary objective of this position is to oversee the efficient movement of materials, including tasks related to shipping and receiving, dock assignments, and the coordination of trailer movements. The role includes monitoring yard activities to facilitate manufacturing processes while emphasizing safety and quality standards. The individual will champion continuous improvement initiatives and will help team members implement operational excellence strategies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee material flow and ensure efficient shipping and receiving operations.
- Manage trailer movements and dock assignments effectively.
- Coordinate loading, unloading, and tracking within the yard.
- Encourage a culture of safety and quality within manufacturing operations.
- Lead improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities.
- Support team members in the application of best practices for operational excellence.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Extensive experience in the field, including specialized training.
- A minimum of three years in operating forklifts and powered industrial vehicles.
- Preferred experience includes three or more years in yard switching or commercial truck driving.
- Proficiency in coordinating material flow and scheduling overtime.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
