Senior Tax Preparer
Avon, OH (hybrid)
85,000-105,000 We are seeking an experienced, initiative-taking and detail-oriented Senior Preparer (Individual focus) to join our team. This position is ideal for a tax professional with a strong background in individual tax preparation who is committed to delivering exceptional client service and a desire to contribute meaningfully to a growing firm. The Senior Preparer will manage complex 1040 returns, provide proactive tax planning, and mentor other staff. Senior Tax Preparer Responsibilities
- Manage Client Engagements: Manage, execute, and review client engagements related to our personal tax clients.
- Manage Complex Tax: Prepare and review individual tax returns, including multi-state and local filings.
- Experience with corporate, partnership, estate, trust, and gift tax returns are helpful but not required.
- Deliver Tax Planning and Advisory: Provide proactive tax planning, projections, and strategic financial guidance to help clients minimize liabilities and optimize outcomes.
- Oversee Tax Preparation Processes: Ensure accuracy and compliance throughout the tax preparation process, assist with reconciliations and year end support as needed. Prepare Schedule C, E and F from client provided documents.
- Train and Develop Staff: Mentor and provide guidance to Staff and Junior Accountants on assignments and professional development.
- Build Client Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients, proactively addressing their needs and questions.
- Contribute to Firm Growth: Assist with business development and networking activities to grow the firm’s client base.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date on changes in tax laws.
Senior Tax Preparer Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Certification: CPA license is strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in individual tax preparation and planning
- Software Proficiency: Experience with various accounting software programs (e.g., QuickBooks, UltraTax, Accounting CS, Office Tools, and TaxDome) is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of tax compliance and planning strategies.
- Analytical Skills: Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to clients.
- Leadership: Demonstrated supervisory and team-building skills.
- Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
