Job Summary
The Certified Surgical Technician plays a vital role within the operating room team, ensuring that surgical procedures are conducted efficiently and safely. This professional is responsible for preparing surgical instruments and equipment, assisting surgeons during operations, and maintaining a sterile environment, thus supporting optimal patient outcomes and safety throughout surgical interventions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize the surgical instruments and equipment required for various procedures.
- Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical operations by providing necessary support and ensuring efficiency.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols to safeguard patient health.
- Handle the management and care of surgical instruments both before and after use, ensuring they are properly sterilized.
- Assist with patient positioning and preparations prior to surgical interventions.
- Monitor and respond swiftly to the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
Qualifications
- Certification from an accredited surgical technology program.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Previous experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
