The role of the Director of Human Resources entails providing visionary leadership across all facets of human resources, ensuring that people-oriented initiatives are in harmony with the organization’s goals and long-term strategic aims. Acting as a reliable advisor to the executive team, this position develops talent strategies aimed at enhancing overall organizational effectiveness, boosting employee satisfaction, and facilitating sustainable growth. Additionally, the Director will manage essential HR functions while fostering a cooperative and high-achieving organizational culture and ensuring adherence to all relevant employment laws and guidelines. Key responsibilities of the Director of Human Resources encompass managing initiatives related to talent acquisition, workforce planning, organizational development, employee relations, compensation, and change management across various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the effectiveness of the Human Resources department across North America by improving organizational capabilities, nurturing HR talent, and establishing efficient processes to accommodate business growth.
  • Partner with senior leadership to create and execute people strategies that further organizational objectives and improve business outcomes.
  • Lead efforts pertaining to workforce and succession planning, organizational design, and talent management.
  • Oversee programs that enhance employee engagement, cultivate organizational culture, improve leadership effectiveness, and boost overall organizational performance.
  • Provide guidance and support to leaders regarding employee relations, performance management, leadership growth, and organizational change.
  • Analyze workforce trends, HR metrics, and people analytics to pinpoint opportunities and aid in data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and HR Centers of Excellence to develop, implement, and refine HR initiatives, policies, and solutions.
  • Direct talent acquisition strategies to attract, nurture, and retain top talent throughout the organization.
  • Work with stakeholders to enhance compensation and benefits programs using market insights and workforce data.
  • Create, maintain, and update HR policies and practices to guarantee compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local employment regulations.
  • Encourage the effective use of HR technology and systems to enhance operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, and overall employee experience.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Human Resources team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing HR organization.
  • Support organizational initiatives such as performance management, employee engagement assessments, leadership training, and transformation projects.
  • Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and compliant workplace that embodies organizational values and business goals.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with at least 7 years in roles that support senior leadership and executive teams.
  • Proven success in developing and executing HR strategies that align with business goals.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site environments that encompass both hourly and salaried employee groups.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment regulations, compliance standards, and best practices in Human Resources.
  • Ability to leverage HR analytics, workforce metrics, and data to inform strategic planning and organizational decisions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading initiatives focused on employee engagement, cultural development, leadership training, and talent management.
  • Experience managing workforce planning, organizational design, and change management strategies.
  • Successful history of leading, mentoring, and developing HR professionals across diverse locations.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and talent management platforms such as ADP, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Preferred certifications include SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent professional credentials.
  • Experience in supporting operations in Canada is desirable.
