Job Summary
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in providing immediate care to patients facing acute medical issues. This position requires a combination of clinical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to act swiftly in high-pressure situations. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, executing urgent interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon arrival in the emergency department.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition to detect changes that require immediate intervention.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and healthcare instructions.
- Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare team members to facilitate timely and effective care.
- Document all patient interactions and clinical findings to maintain accurate medical records.
- Participate in emergency drills and continuous education to enhance skills and maintain compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Previous experience in an emergency department or critical care setting is advantageous.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients and team members.
- Proficiency in clinical assessments and emergency interventions.
