Job Summary
An Interventional Cardiology/Electrophysiology (EP) Cath Lab Nurse plays a crucial role in providing specialized nursing care in a high-tech cardiovascular setting. This position involves assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, monitoring patients before, during, and after interventions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assess patients for interventional and electrophysiological procedures.
- Administer medications and monitor patient vital signs throughout the interventions.
- Assist physicians during complex cardiology procedures, ensuring an efficient workflow.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures and recovery protocols.
- Document patient care activities accurately in medical records.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the cath lab.
- Maintain and manage cath lab equipment, ensuring all tools are sterile and functional.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license, with a preference for experience in critical care or cardiology.
- Advanced certifications in ACLS and BLS are mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and electrophysiological procedures.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
