Packaging Operator
$22-23/HR

Responsibilities of the Packaging Operator:

  • Carry out all tasks associated with the inspection and packaging of Production Lots, including maintaining cleanliness in the inspection and packaging areas.
  • Conduct visual inspections of product vials to detect any defects, assess media-filled vials for signs of contamination (such as turbidity), and evaluate the quality of packaging components.
  • Adhere to all cGMP regulations while accurately recording data in relevant BPRs/EBRs and inventory management systems.
  • Prepare products and components for the packaging process in alignment with the production schedule, bill of materials (BOMs), or directions from the assistant supervisor or supervisor.
  • Execute necessary inventory adjustments and manage material movement within inventory management systems.
  • Set up the packaging line and the associated equipment, ensuring safe operation during packaging and preparation activities. Distribute components and supplies to various packaging stations as required to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Unload products from storage containers and inspect them for any defects.
  • Manage the organization and transfer of products in and out of 2-8°C cold storage units.
  • Ensure that all in-process products and components are securely stored in designated areas.
  • Facilitate the movement of skids, transit trays, hand trucks, and other containers holding products, components, and equipment to ensure efficient departmental operations. Seal, stack, and secure packaged products on skids for transportation to shipping.
  • Carry out line clearances, accurately count and reconcile products and components, while ensuring all tasks are performed safely and in compliance with cGMP (e.g., logging information in the designated log books and BPR/EBRs).

Requirements for the Packaging Operator:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to effectively follow written and verbal instructions, SOPs, BPRs, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Basic computer proficiency and competence in performing fundamental math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Familiarity with SAP and experience in creating and executing SAP notifications; able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 300 lbs. with help.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended durations, potentially for an entire shift.
