Job Summary
The Quality Engineer II plays a crucial role in delivering quality engineering assistance for hydromechanical and electromechanical products throughout their production lifecycle. Collaborating across various departments such as Manufacturing, Assembly, Testing, and Engineering, this position ensures that both products and procedures align with quality standards and customer expectations. Key responsibilities include managing non-conforming materials, implementing corrective actions, conducting audits, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Quality Engineer II will evaluate technical documents, oversee Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and guarantee that quality benchmarks are integrated efficiently throughout manufacturing and the supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess practical experience in quality engineering within aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing sectors, comfortable navigating a team-oriented production environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Quality Assurance support to both internal teams and customers, focusing on Manufacturing, Assembly, and Testing.
- Engage collaboratively with Engineering, Operations, Customers, and Suppliers to meet quality standards and address issues.
- Contribute to the management of non-conforming materials, including attendance at the Material Review Board (MRB).
- Evaluate and approve product specifications, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), manufacturing process plans, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Ensure successful review and implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into production and the supply chain.
- Facilitate the processing of customer Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), ensuring timely analysis and communication.
- Assist with internal and customer audits pertaining to systems, processes, and products.
- Create and implement Product Quality Plans, PFMEAs, and Control Plans.
- Support Proof-of-Build (POB) initiatives and contribute to manufacturing process evaluations and enhancements.
- Lead assembly and testing process optimizations, including Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives.
- Uphold adherence to the AS9100 Quality Management System while promoting continuous enhancements in processes and products.
- Maintain accurate quality data and reporting systems that aid departmental KPIs.
- Communicate effectively with Engineering, Tool Room, and Production teams to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Execute other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.S.).
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in quality engineering within aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of structured problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis, including 8D, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 5-Why, and PFMEA.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications and PDF/document-reading software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with hydraulic or hydromechanical assembly and testing processes.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical data sheets, and schematics.
- Knowledge of quality systems and metrology.
