Job Summary
The Recreation Therapy Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the therapeutic recreation department by assisting licensed therapists in delivering engaging activities that promote healing and social interaction among patients. The aide is responsible for enhancing the quality of patient experiences through purposeful recreational opportunities. This position requires a compassionate and energetic individual dedicated to improving patient well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed recreation therapists in planning and implementing therapeutic recreation programs.
- Facilitate recreational activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Provide support to patients during their participation in various leisure activities, monitoring their engagement and progress.
- Document patient participation and progress in recreational therapy sessions, reporting any significant observations to the supervising therapist.
- Maintain equipment and supplies for recreational activities, ensuring everything is in good working order.
- Encourage socialization among patients, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience in recreational therapy or working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow instructions from licensed professionals.
- Physical capability to assist with activities that may require lifting or supporting patients.
- Passionate about helping others and facilitating their therapeutic recreation needs.
