Residential Journeymen Electrician
On Target Earnings: $100,000
Northwest Indiana Territory (Hobart, IN)
As a Residential Journeymen Electrician, your role will be to safely assess, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain residential electrical systems and associated devices. The ideal candidate will develop technical expertise, demonstrate professional judgment, adhere to safe working practices, document work meticulously, educate clients, and uphold ethical standards.
Responsibilities of the Residential Journeymen Electrician:
- Respond to scheduled service requests including repairs, troubleshooting issues, routine maintenance, and installation tasks within residential environments.
- Participate in company projects, attend mandatory meetings and training sessions, and carry out additional job-related responsibilities.
- Conduct electrical work on existing residential systems encompassing panels, breakers, circuits, wiring devices, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, smoke detectors, GFCI/AFCI protections, grounding components, disconnects, transfer switches, EV charger setups, and other relevant residential electrical apparatus.
- Utilize meters, testers, hand tools, power tools, ladders, lift equipment when assigned, and other approved devices safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret work orders, panel schedules, labels, manufacturer guidelines, basic diagrams, product specifications, and relevant installation directives.
- Engage with clients in a professional, respectful, and transparent manner during every interaction.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols, OSHA/IOSHA regulations, electrical safety standards, manufacturer’s instructions, PPE guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Diligently document all aspects of the job using the company’s specified software, forms, checklists, invoices, estimates, notes, photographs, inspection records, and other required documentation.
- Ensure a tidy and organized worksite and company vehicle at all times.
- Attend and actively engage in required meetings, morning briefings, training sessions, ride-alongs, vendor training, safety meetings, performance evaluations, and company events.
Qualifications for the Residential Journeymen Electrician:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience in residential electrical work.
- Competency in troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing residential electrical systems.
- Excellent customer service abilities.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Additional Skills for the Residential Journeymen Electrician:
- Completion of trade school, technical school, or an apprenticeship program.
- Experience with EV charger installations.
- Experience in training apprentices, helpers, or less experienced technicians.
