Job Overview
The Wire Harness Fabrication Associate will be responsible for creating and assembling wire harnesses and cable assemblies based on provided engineering specifications, diagrams, and requests. This role includes measuring, cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and terminating wires using hand tools as well as specialized machinery. The associate will also route and bundle wires and install connectors, labels, heat shrink tubing, and protective sleeves to ensure optimal functionality. Additionally, the role requires conducting continuity tests, insulation resistance checks, and quality assessments to ensure adherence to industry standards and production criteria. This position involves collaborating with quality assurance and engineering teams to resolve wiring challenges and devise solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct prototype automotive wire harness assemblies, including soldering and crimping tasks.
- Install wire harnesses and overlays in vehicles.
- Interpret and work from schematics, diagrams, drawings, as well as verbal and written instructions.
- Conduct inspections of wire harnesses.
- Acquire proficiency in operating wire harness fabrication machinery efficiently.
- Troubleshoot issues and perform routine maintenance on fabrication equipment.
- Engage in general facility labor and complete additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle electrical systems.
- Able to read and interpret automotive electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with the use of oscilloscopes and digital voltage ohmmeters.
- Experience in data collection with tools like a Canalyzer or similar devices.
- Background in the heavy truck or automotive sector.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office applications.
