Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring that surgical instruments and equipment are effectively sterilized and prepared for use in medical settings. This position oversees the operations within the sterile processing department, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining high standards of hygiene and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the sterile processing department.
- Ensure that all surgical instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and stored to meet safety and quality standards.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and procedural protocols.
- Train and mentor staff on best practices in sterilization and equipment handling.
- Implement policies and procedures to improve departmental efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure optimal operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with other departments to fulfill their sterile processing needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in sterile processing or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in sterile processing or a similar healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques, practices, and safety standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution (CSPDT) is advantageous.
