Job Summary
The SDU Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing focused and comprehensive care to patients within the Short Stay or Step Down Units. This position involves close monitoring of patient conditions post-procedure, ensuring safety and comfort while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate optimal recovery.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient responses to interventions.
- Prepare patients for discharge by educating them about their care plans and follow-up needs.
- Record and report patient progress to healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist in the management of equipment and supplies necessary for patient care.
- Participate actively in patient rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
- Experience in a step down or critical care unit is advantageous.
