Job Summary
The Bone Marrow Transplant RN plays a crucial role in the specialized care of patients undergoing hematologic treatments. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive nursing care tailored to the unique needs of patients receiving bone marrow transplants. The RN will utilize their expertise to ensure optimal patient outcomes while managing complex clinical scenarios.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and IV therapies as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, recognizing changes that may require intervention.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, care plans, and post-transplant expectations.
- Document all patient interactions and updates accurately in the medical records.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients experiencing the challenges of transplant and recovery.
- Participate in continued education and training to enhance knowledge in bone marrow transplantation.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Previous experience in oncology, hematology, or transplant nursing is highly preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
