Job Summary
The Adult Emergency Department (ED) and Trauma Nurse plays a critical role in providing high-quality care to adult patients facing acute medical and trauma situations. This position demands a skilled nursing professional capable of making rapid assessments, delivering timely interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients presenting with various emergency and trauma conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as per protocols and physician orders while monitoring patient responses.
- Coordinate and facilitate effective communication among healthcare team members for optimal patient management.
- Document patient care activities accurately and promptly in the electronic health record system.
- Educate patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Assist in triaging patients and prioritizing care based on severity of conditions.
Qualifications
- Current nursing licensure in the state of practice.
- Experience in emergency nursing or trauma care preferred.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is highly desirable.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to act calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and a diverse team.
