Job Summary
The Critical Care RN is essential for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing life-threatening conditions in a critical care environment. This role involves close monitoring, assessment, and intervention to ensure optimal patient outcomes and support their families during challenging times.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including the administration of medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in their condition.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about health management and care procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote patient safety within the unit.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of new staff and nursing students.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in good standing.
- Completion of an accredited nursing program.
- Prior experience in critical care or an intensive care unit is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and fast-paced environments.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Continuing education in critical care nursing is highly valued.
