Job Summary
The Certified Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in the operating room, providing support to surgeons and nurses by ensuring the availability and sterility of instruments and materials needed during surgical procedures. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and efficient operating environment and requires a blend of technical skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in preparing for procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are available and sterile.
- Prepare the operating room and set up surgical instruments and supplies for each procedure according to established protocols.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment throughout the surgical process.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeons and provide instruments or materials as required during surgery.
- Assist with patient positioning and prepare patients for surgery, including draping and monitoring vital signs.
- Participate in the post-operative care of patients, ensuring a smooth transition from the operating room to recovery.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technician from an accredited program.
- Valid CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and terminology.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with medical staff.
