Job Summary
The Vascular Step Down position entails providing specialized nursing care for patients recovering from vascular surgeries and related medical conditions. This role is crucial in facilitating patient recovery, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional care in a step-down unit environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ post-operative conditions and vital signs.
- Administer medications as prescribed and observe for any side effects or responses.
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Assist patients with daily activities and provide emotional support throughout their recovery process.
- Educate patients and families on care protocols, treatment plans, and health management following discharge.
- Maintain meticulous patient records and update medical charts as necessary.
- Respond to emergency situations promptly, providing the appropriate interventions.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
- Previous experience in a step-down, telemetry, or critical care unit is preferred.
- Strong patient assessment skills and ability to handle complex situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and other healthcare documentation systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
