Job description
Job Summary
The Med Surg RN is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patients for side effects and effectiveness.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and aftercare.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and manage changes in patient conditions.
- Document all nursing interventions and patient responses in electronic health records accurately and timely.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives and maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical-surgical setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
