Job description

Job Summary

The Med Surg RN is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal health outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patients for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and aftercare.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and manage changes in patient conditions.
  • Document all nursing interventions and patient responses in electronic health records accurately and timely.
  • Participate in patient safety initiatives and maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a medical-surgical setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
