Field Assistant

$20 – 21/HR
Field Assistant will support a variety of crop and field activities essential to agricultural operations. This position plays a vital role in field production, seed preparation, and operation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks. Field Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assist in all facets of field research
- Aid with an array of outdoor field duties and some indoor lab duties
- Assist with planting and staking research plots
- Perform pollinating activities
- Conduct data collection using electronic devices
- Maintain research plots
- Perform hand harvest
- Support process improvement projects
- Perform preventive maintenance of equipment
- Aid with spraying
- Assist with other special projects
- Work outdoors for long periods of time with exposure to the elements
- Work weekends and extended hours during peak seasons
Field Assistant Requirements:
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both in a team and independently
- Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, lifting, and long periods of standing
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written tasks and safety instructions in English
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
- Experience with or ability to learn Microsoft Office and iOS devices for data collection
- Ability to perform repetitive job tasks accurately
- Past pesticide application experience is desirable, but not required
- 0–3 years of experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age (or 17 and graduated, but cannot drive company trucks)
- May need to drive company vehicles during work hours
- Must comply with company and USDA-APHIS trainings and policies
